Bringing Clinical Trial Practices into the 21st Century
Session Chair(s)
Judith Teall, RN
Independent Consultant, United Kingdom
In this symposium, we will look at how flexible, innovative mobile and digital technology can provide support throughout the product life cycle (from clinical research to real world environments). We will also take a retrospective walk and a futuristic stroll through the patient recruitment strategies of yesterday and tomorrow, determining how the findings can be applied to provide the best participant experience when designing patient support programs. A review of technology-based patient engagement strategies will be performed, including both the barriers and recommendations for optimal implementation.
Furthermore, we will investigate the increasingly important role of the ubiquitous mobile device in running many aspects of today's clinical trials, and how the sponsors now look to specialist vendors to provide services that incorporate this now essential element into their study practices (enabling the pharmaceutical companies to focus on their core skill of drug development).
Learning Objective : Recognize behavioral change required to apply 21st century technologies and methodologies in patient engagement; Demonstrate how mobile and digital technology can be broadly used by all stakeholders to optimize clinical research.
